The Game’s Afoot (or Holmes for the Holiday)

by Ken Ludwig
directed by Kathleen Welker

The Adobe Theater presents a hilarious, quirky and thrilling alternative to your standard holiday entertainment. The Game’s Afoot is the perfect gift for the holidays – a fantastically fun night out at the theatre for all the family.

It is December 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast-members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. Then it’s up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays. This snappy, clever drawing-room mystery, with so many twists, will cause the audience to gasp.

Kathleen Welker makes her directing and acting debut at The Adobe. Kathleen’s career in the theatre has been as actor, director, stage manager, crew and general dogsbody in theatres in England, Germany, Illinois, Alabama, Kentucky and now New Mexico. She has assembled a talented cast to play the multiple roles – some familiar faces, some new faces. Stephen Zamora plays Gillette and Holmes. His fellow cast members/guests are played by Samantha Conrad, Amy Cundall, Sari C. Jensen, Andrew Leith, Tim Riley and Abriana LeValley, with Kathleen Welker as Inspector Goring.

Internationally acclaimed playwright, Ken Ludwig, whose many hits on Broadway, in London’s West End and throughout the world, have made his name synonymous with modern comedy.
